Marshall Glaze of Love Is Blind fame is shedding light on his mental health struggles.

The 29-year-old Netflix star appeared on Wednesday’s episode of What’s the Reality? podcast, where he talked about experiencing dark thoughts.

‘Last year was just very tough for me mentally, and I was going to take my own life,’ he heartbreakingly shared.

Glaze said, ‘It just got to a point where, like… I had always been morbidly curious but never thought about how to do it.’

He recalled about the low point, ‘One day, I’m just down in the dumps, just crazy depressed. I feel like nothing is going right — that’s what my internal monologue is telling me.

‘Those voices… that darkness just got a little bit louder, got a little bit darker and I felt, like, I was in this box and it just felt, like, walls were just getting closer and closer, and nothing could lift me out of that.’

Marshall pointed to a specific interaction with his mom to highlight just how distraught he felt.

He told host AD Smith, ‘I talked to my mom. I was OK with that being the last time I talked to her. I was like, “OK, all right, you know, this is bad.” I talk to my mom every day, multiple times throughout the day, and I was OK with that being the last time. So, I was going to do what I felt like I had to do — but I couldn’t.’

At the peak of his depression, Marshall left his apartment in Seattle to take a walk in the rain, and by the end of it decided, ‘I want to live.’

He said on the podcast, ‘[Sharing my story] helps me heal, and I hope that someone out there can resonate with that and choose life.’

Glaze has gone through two public engagements and breakups in the last two years.

In January 2024 he announced he was engaged to Chay Barnes, but they called quits on the relationship in September.

Prior to that he met and fell in love with Jackie Bonds on Love Is Blind, leading to their engagement. But the couple broke it off in an April 2023 season four episode.

Through his mental health journey, the Maryland native has found there’s strength in speaking up about his feelings.

‘It almost sounds silly, like, if I say what I was dealing with out loud. I’m like, “Bro, what? You good?”

‘But, it’s just that internal monologue that drives you deeper down that hole. That’s why I feel it helps me [to] talk about it. Opening up about all things [like] suicide, depression helps me realize that, all right, maybe I was tripping up a little bit,’ he explained.

And he added that knowing he’s ‘not alone’ is helpful.

Ahead of Wednesday’s show, What the Reality? teased on Instagram, ‘Love Is Blind’s @marshallglaze and The Ultimatum’s @sandy_gal sit down on the podcast tomorrow aka it’s time to turn your notifications ON.’
