Frazzled travellers at Sydney Airport were given a particularly warm welcome on Tuesday, as puppies took over terminal three.

Qantas brought in a litter of Tamaruke puppies for a few hours to brighten up the mornings of their passengers.

A spokeswoman for the airline told Daily Mail Australia the pups had been ‘specifically trained for stress relief’, making them the perfect airport companion.

The pups were not able to travel with customers as an assistance or guide dog would, but were seen being cuddled by passengers ahead of their flights.

Staff got in on the action as well, posing with their furry colleagues in front of a Christmas tree set up in the domestic terminal.

Qantas have dubbed the experience a ‘pupgrade’.

Tamarukes are specially bred to be non-shedding, friendly, intelligent and easily trained.

The breeders also claim the pups have ‘no doggy odour’.

Customers appeared delighted at the surprise, as they posed with the designer pups.

The Tamarukes will feature in an upcoming festive video from the airline, which will be released on their Facebook page later in the week.
