Meghan McCain’s has had multiple ‘crying fits’ at The View

Meghan McCain’s new stint on The View has been plagued by emotional meltdowns and tears behind the scenes, DailyMailTV can reveal.

The former Fox News contributor has TV producers concerned over the backstage drama, according to a close source at the network.

Meghan’s most recent outburst occurred before one of last week’s shows following a weekend party she attended with fellow Republicans, who told her she was part of a ‘fake news movement.’

The comment referred to the network’s decision to suspend reporter Brian Ross for his erroneous report about former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

‘She had this dramatic meltdown in her dressing room and kept saying that no one knows how hard it is to be on this show and be conservative,’ a source revealed.

The newly-wed 33-year-old, who has only been working on the long-running talk show for just two months, has allegedly been having a hard time trying to fit in at her new job and fears she is not liked because she is conservative

‘She kept going on and on about how the viewers don’t like her because she’s conservative and now conservatives don’t like her and saying she supports fake news,’ recalled the source.

‘She just kept saying, “I just can’t win! I just can’t win.”‘

The display a week ago wasn’t the first for Meghan and has come to be expected by those on set.

She reportedly reads all the social media comments about the show daily and the feedback from fans regularly sends her into a tailspin.

‘She has broken down over viewers calling her fat. She broke down in the hair and makeup room one day talking about how people keep saying she’s lying about her age and how she looks old on the show,’ the source added.

‘And another time she was hysterical after reading comments that said she is a privileged rich kid who only got this job and others because of who her daddy is. Now that comment had her go nuts,’ the source disclosed.

Earlier reports said Meghan has allegedly been nicknamed ‘Elsa’ from the film Frozen (right) on set because of her ‘cold and distant’ demeanor

DailyMail.com previously reported that Meghan has already been embroiled in feuds with co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines after she snubbed them on air and only acknowledged Whoopi and Joy for their work on the show.

That same report also indicated that producers of the show had nicknamed her Elsa from the movie Frozen, because many felt she came across ‘cold and unlikable’ at the table and behind the scenes.

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg, co-hosts Joy Behar and Sunny and Sara – who she’s had tension with on set – now seem to try to affirm her on air in an effort to encourage her.

Last week when Meghan griped on air about how tough her job was on the show during an on-air dispute with Sunny about Trump voters, both Sunny and Whoopi coddled the pundit by telling her she was good at doing her job despite it being challenging.

‘The fact that she makes it to the table some days without cracking on air surprises a lot of people at the show. If you could see the tears and the tantrums off camera, you would wonder how she pulls it together each day,’ the source added.

She had griped that ABC News better not be giving Ana an audition for her seat, the source said.

‘Let’s just say she was very threatened by Ana being there. It really annoys Meghan that the audience doesn’t clap for her and most of her comments fall on deafening silence when she makes them. She regularly blames that on her being the conservative at the table, but that’s not the case when Ana is there.

‘Ana’s commentary often lands huge applause breaks from the studio audience and again, it really upsets Meghan,’ the source explained.

While most daytime talk shows love to play-up pregnancies and marriages to their audience, they supposedly took a different approach with Meghan when she wed her husband, controversial conservative writer Ben Domenech on November 21.

Ben resigned from his job as a writer at The Washington Post after he was accused of plagiarizing stories in previous work that had been published in The New Yorker, the National Review, The Washington Post, and other publications.

More recently, the writer had stories pulled from The Washington Examiner, The Huffington Post, and The San Francisco Examiner after it was discovered he had received $36,000 from a lobbyist to pen favorable pieces about the Malaysian government without disclosing they were propaganda articles.

‘ABC was very concerned about the optics of promoting Meghan’s marriage to Domenech. Her wedding was briefly mentioned by Whoopi initially when Meghan wasn’t even at the show and then Meghan addressed it briefly after the show’s Thanksgiving break,’ the source revealed.

Whether Meghan becomes the next casualty of the revolving chairs of co-host that has plagued The View in recent years or she toughens up and goes the distance remains to be seen, say show sources.
