A Perth apprentice has been bashed so horrifically by gang of seven men that his kidney split in two.

Craig, who opted not to disclose his surname, was coward punched in the back of the head twice outside the Lakers Tavern in Thornlie.

He was then brutally kicked a number of times by at least half a dozen men he didn’t know in November.

He has four broken ribs and a lacerated kidney which blew up about five times the normal size.

The 20-year-old also suffered a bruised bladder, bruised spleen, and a ruptured right lung.

Police believe the attack was unprovoked and that Craig was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

‘Before I even got the chance to look around, I remember getting punched in the head,’ Craig told 7 News.

He was then brutally kicked a number of times by at least half a dozen men putting him in hospital

‘As soon as I hit the ground, I remember trying to get up and I got hit in the head again.’

He estimates he probably got kicked and hit about 40 to 50 times.

In January Craig will return to Royal Perth Hospital to find out if his kidney has to be removed.

As police are still on the hunt for the attackers anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
