A nurse has been fired after he went on a drunken, racist social media rant encouraging extreme violence against children.

Kevin Naughton, a nurse at Broome Hospital in Western Australia, has been sacked after he made an expletive-filled post on a community Facebook page on Friday night, according to news.com.au.

Responding to reports of children breaking into homes, Mr Naughton said ‘just f**king bash them within an inch of their useless worthless lives, they are nothing more than rats or cockroaches’.

‘F**k this do-gooder s**t let’s f**k these little c**ts up, we’ve got bullbars for a reason (haha we all know the joke),’ he posted, apparently referring to the death of Kalgoorlie boy Elijah Doughty who was hit by a car in 2016.

Other members of the Facebook group reacted negatively to Mr Naughton’s comments and demanded an apology.

Mr Naughton later said he was ‘intoxicated’ when he made the ‘disgusting and completely inappropriate comments’.

‘My comments were completely independent from WA Country Health Service and in no way affiliated with Broome Hospital. I sincerely apologise,’ he said.

WA Country Health Service chief executive Jeff Moffet said Mr Naughton was sacked as soon as they found out about what he had posted.

‘These comments contradict the views and values of the WA Country Health Service,’ he said in a statement.

‘WACHS strongly value our connection with the Aboriginal communities across the state.’

Broome woman Marlikka Perdrisat made an emotional Facebook post in response to Mr Naughton.

‘Broome has historically been a very multicultural community, but no child anywhere should fear threats from an adult.’
