Dog owner finds her beloved pooch dead in dog walker’s car

An animal lover has been left devastated after finding her beloved pooch dead in the dog walker’s car after receiving a text saying the woman had ‘gone on a cruise’.

The woman, 46, found her four-year-old Keeshond dead after allegedly receiving the baffling text message which admitted the pet minder may have forgotten the dog.

By the time she came across the vehicle at 5.30pm the dog had been trapped inside for over six hours, Nine News reports.

Glenn Herne, 33,came to the devastated dog-owner’s aid smashed the car window in a failed attempt to save the animal.

‘He was rigid and still as a plank. His fur came out in my hand when I lifted him up. He was falling apart. The car was very small, warm and smelly so I put him on the grass.’

The dog’s death prompted police to put out an urgent warning against leaving pets in cars. 

Temperatures are expected to rise past 40 degrees in many parts of Australia this week – as the nation sweats through a heatwave.
