The actress who rose to fame as a teenager playing Topanga in Boy Meets World has found herself back in the spotlight – for a very different reason.
Danielle Fishel, now 36, has landed herself viral fame with a series of hilarious images that document her very frequent trips to ‘visit’ a pair of designer sunglasses.
Over the course of two months, the actress has made repeated trips to the same store in order to pose with the yellow Ray-Ban shades, while her husband Jensen Karp snaps images of herself wearing the design – but has yet to actually purchase the frames.
Visits: Danielle Fishel, better known as Topanga from Boy Meets World, keeps going to a department store with her husband to visit and try on a pair of yellow sunglasses
First visit: Some time in November, Danielle found the mirrored sunglasses, tried them on and had her husband Jensen Karp, take a photo of her wearing them
Husband: Since the first visit, she returned a few weeks later to try them on again, after her husband, 38, (pictured) shared, ‘we can’t stop thinking about them’
Danielle revealed on Instagram last month that she first discovered the glasses in a department store after arriving early for a movie; having decided to use up some of her spare time shopping, she spotted the shades and decided to try them on – a moment which Jensen captured on camera.
Sharing the image – which would eventually spark a viral trend – on November 28, Danielle explained that, despite describing the accessory as ‘terrible’, she had not been able to get them out of her mind.
She went on to express her hope that they remained un-bought so that she could have the chance to visit them occasionally and try them on again and again – leaving many of her followers confused as to whether she would ever consider purchasing them.
‘These are terrible mirrored glasses but I tried them on a month ago and haven’t stopped thinking about them,’ she wrote.
‘@jensenclan88 and I arrived early for a movie and we went to visit them. I hope no one buys them ever and I can just come visit them once a week.’
Meanwhile, at the same time she posted the photo, Jensen, 38, posted the exact same picture with the caption: ‘@daniellefishel tried these on a week ago and we can’t stop thinking about them.
‘We got to the movies early to try them back on and laugh. Are we having a stroke.’
After posting the original snap, Jensen then cleared up a bit of confusion about how he and Danielle had happened across the specs, sharing another picture of his wife wearing the shades, while writing: ‘For reference, this is the [first] picture we took last week with the glasses.
Obsessed: Since the first visit, she returned a few weeks later to try them on again, after she shared, ‘I hope no one buys them ever and I can just come visit them once a week’
Returns: The saga continued when the couple returned to the store yet another time, while Danielle wrote, ‘our weekly visit’
Final visit: After making a fifth visit to the glasses, people started to pick up on her saga and she responded to the comments saying, ‘what can I say, I’m a complex woman’
‘I’m happy we can take this journey with you.’
But despite both husband and wife gushing over the specs, neither appear to have made a purchase, although they have – as promised – made numerous trips back to the store to ‘visit’ them time and again.
Danielle posted yet another photo on December 4, joking in the caption: ‘Our weekly visit,’ while her husband posted the same picture writing: ‘WE ARE BACK VISITING THE GLASSES.’
On December 13, the couple then returned for a whopping fifth visit to go see the bizarre yellow mirrored sunglasses and they both posted another photo of course. This time, Danielle wrote, ‘Guys, they’re too big on my face!! (still visited tho).’
Jensen posted the same photo of Danielle, smiling from ear-to-ear, but added a hilarious caption, saying, ‘We are back on our bulls**t.’
People were freaking out about the visits all over social media, sharing how hilarious this whole ordeal is. One Twitter user shared all of the photos and wrote, ‘Worried about Topanga,’ while Sabrina Carpenter commented on one of Danielle’s Instagram photos saying, ‘stop omg.’
After BuzzFeed started putting the pieces of the puzzle together, the couple each shared a screen shot of the article on their Instagram pages.
Danielle shared a screen grab of the article on Instagram saying, ‘What have I done,’ and also replied to BuzzFeed’s tweet saying, ‘What can I say, I’m a complex woman.’
Meanwhile, her husband shared the post writing, ‘Not fake news,’ and just like that, Danielle and Jensen have just become our all-time favorite couple.
