  • Former top general recently warned the Britain’s defences are vulnerable
  • U.S senator predicted Donald Trump will attack North Korea if more tests occur

Foreign secretary Boris Johnson has warned the missiles being developed by North Korea could hit the UK within six months.

Pyongyang has already conducted a test with a missile that could potentially carry a nuclear warhead to the U.S. Eastern Seaboard.

Now Mr Johnson has told a private meeting of Conservative MPs, the United States could pull its military presence out of South Korea in a bid to convince China to topple Kim Jong-un’s regime, The Sun reported.

The Foreign Secretary warned putting pressure on the Chinese would not be easy and all the military options for dealing with the North Korea would be catastrophic.

His words echo those of Sir Richard Barrons, Britain’s former commander of Joint Forces Command, who warned North Korea will be able to strike the UK with nuclear missiles within 20 months.

Sir Richard mentioned the issues as ‘existential risks’ to the UK homeland which the armed forces were unable to deal with.

He made his comments to the MPs on the Commons Defence Committee as he warned years of defence cuts have left Britain’s armed forces ‘close to breaking’.

Sir Richard highlighted the growing range of threats to the UK, including North Korea and Russia, to which, he said, the forces had no answer.

‘We are locked in a daily confrontation with Russia,’ he said. ‘We are looking at North Korea which within the next 18 to 20 months will mate a nuclear missile to an intercontinental-range ballistic missile which can reach London. We can’t deal with that.’

He said the Army was ’20 years out of date’, lacking air defences, unmanned drones and cyber warfare capabilities.

Sen. Lindsey Graham this week predicted that PresidentDonald Trump would take the country to war with North Korea if Kim Jong-un makes additional provocations.

Graham told The Atlantic in an interview that appeared on the magazine’s website Thursday that another nuclear test would be the final straw.

‘I would say there’s a three in 10 chance we use the military option,’ Graham said. Upping the odds in the case of a seventh test, he replied, ‘I would say 70 percent.’
