England storm into day four as Australia´s Steve Smith…

James Anderson made two big breakthroughs as Mitch Marsh and Steve Smith both fell early on day four of the third Test at the WACA.

England had bowled 464 balls without success during Marsh and his captain’s triple-century fifth-wicket stand the previous day.

Yet with the 466th, only the second after the resumption, England’s all-time leading wicket-taker got his man as Marsh (181) went back, was hit in front and had to go when Chris Gaffaney’s decision was marginally confirmed on DRS.

Smith (239) followed four overs later, also lbw, but this time England requiring DRS to overturn an initial not-out verdict as Australia moved to 563 for seven and a lead of 160 to keep the tourists still in all sorts of trouble – 2-0 down in the series, and with the Ashes on the line.
