Richard Wilkins’ new show The A List delayed by Channel 9

He’s Channel Nine’s veteran entertainment reporter.

And despite his respected standing with the network, it appears Richard ‘Dickie’ Wilkins’ anticipated show The A List is now on the back burner.

The 63-year-old’s new project is being held up by ‘music clearances’, however The Sunday Telegraph reports the real cause could possibly be his light interview style.

The newspaper reached out to a network spokesperson, who explained the reason the interview show is now delayed is due to the tricky process of clearing the music.

‘The issue with it is around music clearance and rights which is taking longer than we had hoped,’ the spokesperson said.

‘The show is completed but we can’t put to air until the clearances are done,’ they added.

The publication then spoke with ‘sources close to the production’, who claimed Richard’s upbeat chat style ‘meant the interviews fell short of the promised product’.

‘Not many people want to watch a two-minute interview with Dickie on the Today show, let alone a whole hour,’ one alleged production source said.

‘It’s on the backburner for now,’ they continued.

A spokesperson for the Nine Network told Daily Mail Australia on Sunday the reported production source’s claims are ‘unfounded speculation and not correct’.

Affectionately known as ‘Dickie’, the veteran presenter was the original host of MTV Australia when it started broadcasting on Channel Nine in the 1980s.

In April this year, he celebrated his 30th anniversary with the network.
