A customer who splashed out nearly $2000 on a five star feast to be delivered to their door has claimed Australia’s most exuberant Uber Eats order for the year.

The Melbourne diner sure had a taste for the finer things in life, ordering up big from the city’s French-inspired steakhouse, Brasserie Entrecôte.

Perhaps in a last-ditch attempt to pull together a sophisticated meal for some friends, the hungry customer purchased a huge haul of caviar, burgers, cakes and seafood.

For a grand total of $1,570, the big spender’s order included eight gourmet cheeseburgers, seven smoked salmons and seven steak sandwiches.

A giant $600 worth of Beluga caviar was also on the menu, along with chevré cheese and, despite inevitable difficulties involved in transporting ice-cream, six Bombe Alaskas.

Annual figures from the food taxi service also revealed Australia’s favourite delivery indulgence was the halal snack pack from Melbourne’s Kebab Hut.

The most popular time to order in was around 6pm on a Friday evening, with the hottest menu item a greasy order of hot chips.
