Jetstar cancels flight from Sydney Airport amid storm

  • Passengers left stranded after Jetstar cancelled flights out of Sydney Airport
  • Holidaymakers claimed they were forced to book flights with alternate airlines
  • Airline said three of its flights had been cancelled due to severe thunderstorm

Hundreds of passengers have been left stranded after Jetstar cancelled flights out of Sydney Airport as severe thunderstorms batter the city.

Angry holidaymakers said they had been forced to book flights with other airlines after the last-minute cancellations on Wednesday afternoon.

‘It’s just ridiculous, I’m about to hop in a cab to the airport and I get this text from Jetstar saying my flight was cancelled,’ one told Daily Mail Australia.

‘Now I’ve had to pay an extra $250 to book a flight on Virgin. How can Virgin and Qantas be flying and Jetstar not? Total bull****.’

The airline said three of its flights had been cancelled and all affected passengers would be on the next available flight.

‘We’ve had three cancellations on flights to Brisbane, Melbourne and Hobart,’ a spokeswoman said.

‘But we’re still flying, we’ll just have see what the storm does and whether it’s going to impact flights any further.’

The temperature dropped in Sydney by 10C in just a few minutes on Wednesday afternoon as the storm swept across the city following a scorching 40C day.
