Loyal dog wouldn’t leave its dead owner on road in China

This is the heart-breaking moment a dog refused to leave its owner after the man was hit by a car in south-east China.

Mobile phone footage shows the elderly man lying in the middle of a busy road as the dog stood next to his body.

The pet appeared to be waiting for its owner to wake up, however he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The scene has touched onlookers who filmed the footage. A woman spoke in the video: ‘It’s such a pity and so heart-breaking’.

According to reports, the incident took place in Shaoguan, Guangdong Province on November 19.

The old man was hit by a black car when he was trying to cross a road between busy traffic.

The man died at the scene but the dog did not move an inch during the whole time, said the police.

The elderly man was said to be homeless. He made a living by collecting trash and sold them for money.

Local residents said they had seen the man and the dog walking along the street all the time.  

The police are investigating the accident further.
