An officer with an Oregon police department has ‘arrested’ Abominable T. Snowman for driving under the influence as part of a campaign to crackdown on drunk, drugged and high drivers during the holiday season.

The operation, run by the St. Helen’s Police Department, increases the number of officers on the streets between December 15 and January 1 which are ‘some of the most dangerous driving days of the year in the United States.’

Officer Claus, the department’s honorary patrol officer, ‘arrested’ Abominable Snowman on December 18 on charges of DUI and reckless driving.

Abominable’s blood alcohol level measured .16, twice the legal limit.

He ‘admitted that he was driving home from a holiday party where he drank a little too much peppermint schnapps,’ the department wrote.

‘He thought that he would be okay to drive the short distance back to his house. Clearly, that was not the case.’

The police department continued the joke by saying that the Abominable Snowman will appear in court on December 20.

While the possibility of a year in jail and a maximum fine of $6,250 may not be serious for the snowman, the consequences are very real for drunk drivers.
