These are the horrified screams of a mother who accidentally ran over her two-year-old daughter outside the family home.

Neighbours revealed hearing the woman hysterically screaming ‘what have I done? She’s so young,’ as she lay on the ground next to the girl. 

The Avondale Heights mother was reversing out of her quiet suburban street in Melbourne’s north-west shortly after 8pm on Wednesday when she hit the toddler.

One neighbour said the two-year-old girl’s father ran for help following the incident.

He reportedly bashed on neighbours doors pleading for assistance.

A group of neighbours, including a doctor, ran to help the girl, as the parents consoled each other on the footpath.

‘We called an ambulance, came outside and the daughter was bleeding,’ the neighbour told The Herald Sun.

‘The girl was there and everyone was around her; the mum and the dad were here and the mum was laying on the ground screaming.’ 

The girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries on Wednesday night.  

A woman is assisting the police with their inquiries.
