A £250,000 wardrobe and 13 costume changes – but how on earth will Taylor Swift keep warm in a British summer?

Costing more than £250,000, Taylor Swift’s tour wardrobe is one of the most expensive in pop history.

On the first UK date of her Eras tour, she showcased 13 outfits – her lucky number – including two new ones thought to cost more than £10,000 each: a blue frock, and a yellow top and pink skirt combination by Roberto Cavalli.

Other stage clothes are custom made by couture labels including Versace, Vivienne Westwood and Zuhair Murad, while she has at least ten pairs of shoes and boots from French designer Christian Louboutin, famous for his red soles, again specifically created for her.

But it seems few of the exclusive designs were created with the British weather in mind as the 34-year-old megastar visibly shivered during her opening show at the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on Friday.

She was even forced to stop as the winds became too much during the acoustic section. With her hand frozen into a claw position, she was unable to play her guitar.

She told the sell-out crowd of 73,000: ‘I’m sorry everyone. This has never happened before but my hand is frozen. I’m just going to warm it up. I’m so embarrassed.’

One fan said: ‘It was obvious Taylor was freezing. She seemed OK when dancing around in the more energetic sections, but when it came to the slower songs where she was playing the guitar or the piano, she looked like she was really struggling to keep warm.’

Tonight, the last of three gigs at the open-air stadium is expected to be plagued by icy winds with outbreaks of drizzle and rain.

And with Britain braced for what is described as ‘one of the wettest summers to date’, there are fear about how she will keep warm.

She will arrive in Liverpool on Thursday for three gigs, with the Met Office predicting more rain and temperatures around 13C (55F).

And it is the same story in Cardiff on June 18, with heavy showers forecast.

Following three nights at Wembley Stadium, the Eras tour leaves for Dublin on June 28 before continuing on to the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria.

It then heads back to London for five more shows at Wembley.

The singer’s American footballer boyfriend Travis Kelce, 34, was not at her first gig in the UK, and will be in Ohio tonight for a charity softball game.

His absence has prompted anger among Swifties – but he is expected to be at one of her Wembley dates.
