A 37-year-old man charged over stalking teen and exposing himself at train station in Brisbane

Man, 37, who allegedly followed a teen on her bike and exposed himself at a train station is arrested after cops spotted him on the same path where he harassed the girl

A man has been charged with unlawful stalking and wilful exposure in relation to two alleged incidents on Brisbane’s northside.

The 37-year-old Mitchelton man is believed to have approached a teenage girl walking on the Kedron Brook bikeway at Gaythorne on the afternoon of April 4.

He allegedly following her on a bicycle to a Belleview Street address.

Once the girl was inside the property, the man allegedly left the scene.

It is further alleged the man exposed himself to a 49-year-old woman at a Keperra train station in December 2021.

On July 13, officers located the man while conducting proactive patrols of the bikeway.  

However, it’s alleged he ran away from police as they approached him.

North Brisbane Tactical Crime Squad officers arrested the man at a Mitchelton address on Monday.  

His charges include unlawful stalking, wilful exposure, breach of bail and obstruct police.

His bail was refused, and he is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court. 

Inner West Patrol Group Inspector Corey Allen said: ‘We’re grateful to local residents who report suspicious and criminal behaviour, which in this case helped us put an alleged offender before the court.

‘Everyone has the right to feel safe in their community, and we encourage anyone who witnesses incidents like these to contact police.’
