On Wednesday five people were taken to hospital after two Holdens collided at the traffic black spot.

The Christmas Eve smash saw seven people injured at the intersection, with two needing to be flown to Melbourne for treatment.

Birregurra CFA captain Gavin Brien was the first responder to all three crashes, and the fireman said he has been urging politicians to fix the road for 18 months.

‘I’ve been a member for 18 years and we’ve had a lot of accidents here but to have three in five days is out of control,’ he said.

‘They’re coming along Colac-Lorne Rd and just not stopping.’
