A look at celebrity tattoo fails

From sportsmen to socialites, Australian celebrities are well-known for their love of tattoos.

And while some stars are praised for their daring designs, other famous figures have  faced backlash over their eye-popping ink.

From Imogen Anthony’s awkward quote gaffe, to Iggy Azalea’s tribute to her ex and Shannon Noll’s Southern Cross tattoo, Daily Mail Australia takes a look at some of the celebrity tattoo fails.

Former model Imogen was trolled by fans earlier this month, who accused her of incorrectly having a quote needled onto her back.

Just weeks ago, Imogen had a quote from English occultist Aleister Crowley tattooed onto her back, which read ‘By the power of truth, I, by living have conquered the universe’.

However, the actual quote, which originated in Crowley’s diaries and is translated from Latin, is ‘By the power of truth, I, while living have conquered the universe’.

When Imogen faced criticism over the tattoo, she hit back claiming it was a ‘slight adaptation’ of the original phrase.

Taking to Instagram, she raged: ‘Literature Nazis back the f**k off. This is why I never posted my tattoos when I started getting them, because mine aren’t framed bits of art, they’re meanings and stories. Some run pretty deep.’

However, the outspoken blonde isn’t the only celebrity accused of sporting incorrect ink, with cricketer Michael Clarke also alleged to have the wrong translation of a phrase needled onto his arm in Arabic.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the tattoo is intended to translate to ‘The pain of discipline is nothing like the pain of disappointment’.

However, some have speculated that the ink may awkwardly read: ‘The pain of discipline is something similar to the pain of disappointment’.

Meanwhile, pop rocker Shannon Noll has also attracted some criticism for the Southern Cross tattoo he sports on his chest.

The singer was one seen showing off his ink in a photo which was widely mocked on the internet.

In 2016, HuffPost Australia ran a story about the tattoo being trolled by a Melbourne rapper.

While Shannon may not be bothered by the backlash to his Southern Cross, several other Australian celebrities have had their tattoos altered or removed.

Married At First Sight’s Nick Furphy once had a tattoo tribute to ‘ex-wife’ Sharon ‘Shaz’ Marsh inked onto his foot.

However, after their break-up, the crafty reality star changed ‘I Love Shaz’ to ‘I Love Shiraz.’

Meanwhile, Iggy Azalea decided to do away with her tattoos dedicated to rapper ex-boyfriend A$AP Rocky.

The Mullumbimby-born rapper had the words ‘Live, Love and A$AP’ removed from her fingers in 2015.

However, whilst tattoos still polarise the general public, not all Australian celebrities have received backlash for their inkings.
