On the show, a couple hand over power of attorney to experts who then buy a house on their behalf based on a list of specifications.

But viewers claim the couple on Wednesday’s episode, Lis and Ali, could not obtain all of the attributes they require for their dream home with their limited $600,000 budget without further money being spent on renovations.

Parents Lis and Ali informed the experts they required three bedrooms, a large kitchen, backyard and ample room for their three daughters.

They also needed the home to be close to their children’s school and located in Melbourne’s Dandenong ranges.

Real estate expert Rich finds the pair their dream home for $565,000, but extensive renovations are planned that appear to exceed the remaining $15,000 budget.

The show’s presenter explains: ‘Two internal walls will be removed to create a bigger living area. And sliding doors will be added, opening onto a brand-new curved deck.’

Also being renovated were a ‘contemporary galley-style kitchen which will include a new pantry with loads of storage’ and ‘the bathroom which will be revamped with a new bath tub and separate shower.’

The work being done to the home is described by the show’s presenter as ‘full demolition mode.’

And viewers were not having it, with one Tweeting: ‘Like they could do all of these renovations with less than 20 grand… Do they think we are stupid???’

Another Tweeted: ‘Hi we have a really tight budget we just want a house.’ ‘Sure here’s a house within your budget and $100,000 of free renovations you could never afford making this whole premise completely unrealistic!’ #BuyingBlind’

Yet another chimed in: ‘How many freebies are Channel 9 going to throw in?’

It is unclear if the couple’s remaining budget is spent on the renovations of if they are provided without fee by the show.
