Today show viewers were shocked on Thursday morning when Sarah Abo complained about her co-host Karl Stefanovic’s bad breath live on-air.
Sarah, 38, and Karl, 49, who are both in France covering the Paris Olympics, were discussing the games on-air when Sarah revealed Karl’s breath smelled bad due to a change in diet.
‘I don’t know if we want to smell what’s been happening in Paris. Karl, did you have the snails again for lunch? There’s a lot of garlic in there,’ Sarah sniped at her co-star.
An apologetic Karl admitted he had undergone a change in diet since arriving in Paris.
‘Sorry, I’ve had a lot of garlic. You can’t not when you’re in Paris… Snails, frog legs!’ he quipped.
‘People are going to be upset with me, but Sarah has to live with it.’
Sarah then joked it was ‘lucky’ she loved him and so would tolerate the smell.
Karl has been sharing to social media some of the dietary changes he has undergone since landing in Paris, which has included eating expensive caviar – and spreading Vegemite on a French baguette.

Many of his followers quickly took to the comment section to roast him over his unique diet.
‘Nooo not the Vegemite on a baguette! Lol How Parisienne of you,’ one fan joked and a second person added: ‘Vegemite in Europe is a NO NO mate.’
It follows reports that Karl has ensured his wife Jasmine has been enjoying the best Paris has to offer as the Today show host is in France for Nine’s Olympics coverage.

On Sunday, the couple headed to the exclusive Girafe Restaurant which requires a Game Pass for entry.
Jasmine beamed alongside Karl in a photo shared to Instagram, with the Eiffel Tower in the background.
‘La Girafe with you. Thank you @channel9 for a beautiful dinner,’ she wrote in the caption, indicating the pair had dined out on the network’s dime.
The pricey eatery offers caviar for as much as €650 (AUD $1075) with main dishes in the $60-$70 range.
It boasts ‘gourmet seafood dishes in an upscale restaurant with a terrace and Eiffel Tower views’.
