For real high-flyers, this super-nimble private jet might pique interest. 

The HondaJet Elite – which costs from $5.25 million (£3.98 million) and is now being delivered to customers globally – features an elegant pointed nose that was inspired by a pair of designer high heels. 

The plane’s 12-foot-long cabin features a kitchen area complete with a coffee maker, four plush leather seats, veneered tables and a private toilet. So guests can stay connected, there is built-in Wi-Fi.

On the technical front, the HondaJet Elite is the furthest-flying aircraft in its category, with a range of 1,653 miles. 

It is can also achieve an impressive top speed of 486mph and a maximum cruising altitude of 43,000ft – which is faster and higher than any other private jet of the same size. 

Kotaro Chiba, who was the first customer in Japan to take a delivery of the HondaJet Elite in late December, applauded its ‘quietness, powerfulness, smoothness, safety, and stability’.

The Elite, which was unveiled in May last year, is an updated version of the twin-engine Honda HA-420 HondaJet which entered production in 2015.

The plane design process was led by Michimasa Fujino, the CEO of Honda Aircraft Company which is based out of North Carolina.

He sketched the design more than two decades ago before his idea finally became reality and the plane’s tapered nose was apparently inspired by a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo-designed heeled shoes Fujino spotted at an airport duty free store.
