The video started with the dance team and cheerleaders all lined up across the basketball court at the school.

They started their routine before Father Ricardo, who was clad in black priest robe with his collar, walks towards the group, stretching his arms out wide.

He then jumped to face the crowd and joined in the fun routine by hitting each of the arm movements and fast steps along with the rest of the dance team.

An uproar from the crowd his heard once Father Ricardo was able to nail the different dance moves in front of his students.

‘There’s nothing like a #Gibbons pep rally! #DancingPriest,’ the high school wrote on its Twitter page when sharing the video of the priest.

Nicknaming Father Ricardo as the ‘dancing priest’ might stick given the moves he displayed on the basketball court.

It remains unclear if the priest has previously joined in on dance routines or if this was his first time showing his moves.

After the video was first shared on October 26, it quickly gained momentum on Twitter with people commenting about the priest’s dance skills.

Journalist David Begnaud shared the video on his own Twitter page and noted most of the priests he knew would not be able to show off the same moves.

‘The priests at my high school didn’t move like this,’ he wrote.

Another person commented: ‘Can you imagine how much better Catholic school would have been.’

Father Ricardo possibly started a new tradition at the high school by dancing with the dance team and cheerleaders for the homecoming assembly after he demonstrated his dance skills on the basketball court.
