Such is the trend for some of the biggest generations and their gadgets. At the moment, cell phones are one of the most used and prevalent devices across generations because of their ease and sustainability.
Cell Phones Across Generations
Cell phones are one of the most widely used devices all over the world, and adults between the ages of 18 and 65 are all equipped with this gadget. 85% of adults living in America possess at least a cell phone, and they are used beyond what they were created for. 76% of cell phone owners used mobile phones to take pictures where are 72% of cell phone users use this device for text messaging as well. Even people from previous generations who fall in the age group between 75 years and older also possess cell phones. 48% of people belonging to this age range have cell phones in America. Even those individuals who do not possess a cell phone of their own come from a household where there is the presence of at least one working cell phone. This makes cell phones one of the most popular gadgets all over the generations that are being used at the moment.
Desktops and Laptops Across Generations
Desktops world is one of the most revolutionary creations at the time. However, the use of desktop has somewhat lowered since 2006 as laptops begin to occupy the forefront in this market. About 76% of all adults have at least a desktop or a laptop, and within them, 59% are desktop computer owners, whereas the remaining 52% are laptop owners. Laptop owners have been found to be relatively younger and belonging to the later generations who prefer mobility that is readily offered by laptops. Millennials are more prone to owning a netbook or a laptop rather than a desktop computer. 70% of millennials used laptops in comparison to desktops which are used by 57% of the millennials. Among adults in Generation X, 69% are desktop owners while 61% use laptops.
MP3 Players Across Generations
MP3 players are one of those devices that have shown the most significant gaps and usage among the generation. Why 47% of all adults own an MP3 player or an iPod, 74% of them are millennials while only 56% of these adults belong in Generation X. While looking at older adults, they are above the age of 75 years old, and only 3% belonging to this category used MP3 players.
Gaming Consoles Across Generations
In total, 42% of adults on gaming consoles, and their most popular among the millennials and those belonging to Generation X. 63% of adults residing to the age range between 18-46 on some sort of a gaming console like a PlayStation or Xbox. However, the rates drop significantly to 38% among those belonging to the age group of 47-56 years. The rate of ownership drops even for the down to 19% among the older Boomers and down to 8% for the Silent Generation.
As the generations proceed towards modernization, the use of gadgets has also shifted from generation to generation. Throughout the evolution of different generations and their gadgets, no matter in what form or shape, there were always occupied a vital role in the life of man.
