A serial rapist has escaped from Darwin Correctional Facility at Holtze

A ‘hypersexual’ serial rapist who is one of the most dangerous sex offenders in Australia has escaped from prison and is now on the run.

Eric Ebatarintja escaped Darwin Correctional Centre at Holtze in the Northern Territory at around 9pm last night after he removed his electronic monitoring device.

Mr Ebatarintja was being held in a low security cottage, but was not a serving prisoner. 

Mr Ebatarintja is described as a 39-year-old Aboriginal male of slim build and 160cm tall

He had been detained under the serious sex offenders act as he was deemed a danger to the community.

Members of the public have been advised not to approach the escaped man as he has been described as ‘hypersexual’.

It was pointed out that he relies on large doses of anti-psychotic and anti-libidinal medication to control his sex drive. 

Not only that, but he has a string of security violations while on supervision at Holte. 

In the past, Mr Ebatarintja sneaked his girlfriend into the open security cottages for an overnight stay. 

Mr Ebatarintja is described as a 39-year-old Aboriginal male of slim build and 160cm tall. 

He has scarring on his face, shoulders, and chest.
