A flustered Aaron Judge chose to plead the fifth when asked where he was during Friday’s earthquake in New York.

The New York City metropolitan area was hit by an earthquake shortly before 11am Friday, with the US Geological Survey reporting that the epicenter was near Lebanon, New Jersey.

Ahead of their 1pm home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays, Bergen Record’s Pete Caldera reported that everyone at Yankee Stadium ‘certainly felt the ground shaking’ when the 4.7-magnitude tremor struck, although batting practice is said to have continued without interruption.

Judge, though, was seemingly not out practicing alongside his teammates at the very moment the earthquake rumbled.

When asked where he was at his postgame press conference, the red-faced Yankees superstar laughed: ‘I don’t wanna say.’

A team official then said: ‘Yeah that’s definitely a no-comment.’

Fans were quick to speculate about where Judge was at the time of the earthquake, with the most popular theory that he was using the restroom.

‘He was definitely taking a #2,’ one user wrote on X.

Another simply put: ‘100% taking a s**t’.

‘Definitely in the bathroom,’ said a third.

While one user joked: ‘He definitely felt a “little rumble”’.

Wherever he was, Judge certainly felt the force of the rare East Coast tremor, which impacted from Eastern Pennsylvania to Western Connecticut.

‘Yeah, I felt that pregame,’ he added. ‘Usually you feel a couple of rumbles in this stadium pregame, but that one was a little different.’

The Yankees went on to suffer defeat against the Blue Jays, who ran out 3-0 winners on the day.

Pinch-hitter Ernie Clement had a tiebreaking solo home run off Caleb Ferguson leading off the seventh inning, while Juan Soto went 0 for 4 with a pair of strikeouts in his pinstripes debuts.

Soto bowed to fans in right field in the top of the first and was greeted with a standing ovation when he came to the plate in the bottom half. Soto is in a 1-for-16 slide after a 9-for-17 start.
