ABC has taught pre-schoolers about white privilege and described Conservative candidate as ‘c***’

From claiming parents need to ask for babies’ consent before changing their nappies to teaching kids about ‘white privilege’, the ABC has lurched further and further to the left in recent years.

The national broadcaster refused to apologise in May after its now-axed Tonightly program described an Australian Conservatives by-election candidate, Kevin Bailey, as a ‘c***’.

Two months earlier, the Black Comedy show featuring indigenous actors referred to white people using the same vile term during a skit mocking commercial breakfast TV.

The left-wing political agenda wasn’t confined to adult programming, with the ‘ME’ channel for kids in March making a video about white privilege, featuring a refugee character, and doing a follow-up clip mocking its conservative critics.

And the lean to the left didn’t end there, with author Deanne Carson featuring on an ABC News segment in May arguing parents needed to ask their babies for consent to change their nappies.

Stephen Conroy, who was communications minister from 2007 to 2013, said it appeared the ABC was to the left of even the Labor Party.

‘The ABC has a Green culture. It has been sympathetic on a whole range of issues that the Greens have championed rather than the mainstream of politics,’ he told Sydney radio 2GB on Thursday.

The former Victorian senator from Labor’s right faction, who is now a Sky News contributor, said he ‘would share some of the criticism’ when asked by John Stanley if the ABC often put forward a ‘Labor-Greens point of view’.

The ABC has this year also hired a former Greens candidate Osman Faruqi, the son of Greens senator Mehreen Faruqi, to be the deputy editor of a new lifestyle site, ABC Life.

Mr Conroy said the ABC had made a series of questionable programming decisions.

‘They have dumbed down ABC’s news and current affairs and gone for this lifestyle platform,’ he said.

‘What a load of rubbish.

‘I would never had funded these sort of programming choices if I was the minister.

‘They’ve dumbed down the ABC.’

When Prime Minister Scott Morrison was treasurer in May, he dedicated $1.12 billion for the ABC for the 2018/19 financial year.

This week, Michelle Guthrie was sacked from her $891,000-a-year position as managing director, halfway through her five-year term.

The chairman who moved against her, Justin Milne, quit on Thursday after revelations he had emailed Ms Guthrie demanding she sack chief economics correspondent Emma Alberici and political editor Andrew Probyn.

Former federal Labor leader Mark Latham said that while it was a mistake for Mr Milne to have put those demands in writing, he had at least identified problems with the ABC that needed fixing.

‘The only positive thing you can say about Justin Milne is that at least he’s the first person in anyone’s memory who has had the right targets within this organisation,’ he told 2GB presenter Steve Price today.

‘Blatantly bias and incompetent journalists, and he said, “Let’s get rid of them, let’s sack these people”.’

Daily Mail Australia has asked the ABC if this was appropriate and whether he is still on the payroll following the axing of the Tonightly show in August.
