ABC star issues stern warning about Tony Armstrong ahead of the Logies: ‘To be perfectly honest…’

An ABC breakfast presenter took to social media on Wednesday to issue a dramatic warning about his ‘absolutely insufferable’ co-star Tony Armstrong.

News Breakfast co-host Michael Rowland, 56, shared a photo to Facebook of sports presenter Tony, 34, laughing it up and captioned it with some cheeky words.

‘To be perfectly honest, Tony will be absolutely insufferable if he wins the Gold Logie,’ he began.

‘His head will swell to an abnormal size and he’ll need little encouragement to show off his glittering trophy.’

Rowland added he was prepared to deal with Tony’s inflamed ego because he felt no one was more deserving of Australia’s most coveted TV award than him.

‘I am willing to deal with this every morning because I honestly think he is so deserving of TV’s highest honour. And that’s no joke,’ he continued.

Rowland then shared a link to vote for Tony.

Armstrong has a very good reason for hoping to win the Gold Logie this year.

The ABC News Breakfast host has been nominated for the coveted award, which is for the Most Popular Personality on Australian Television, and realises he would be the first Aboriginal person to win if he swings enough votes.

‘Viewers should vote for me because they would then be a positive part of history if that campaign is successful. No Aboriginal person’s ever won this award before,’ the 34-year-old told TV Tonight this week.

‘I think it’s a bit late for pats on the back around this, but it’d be cool to be the first,’ he added.

The television personality added he feels ‘humbled’ by the prestigious nod.

‘Being nominated for a Gold Logie is definitely not something that you set out to do, but when it happens, it’s a bit humbling really,’ he said.

Armstrong faces stiff competition in the Gold Logie race – The other contenders include Robert Irwin, and his I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here co-host Julia Morris and Seven’s Larry Emdur, Sonia Kruger, Asher Keddie, and Andy Lee are also up for the prestigious gong.

The 64th annual Logie Awards will be hosted by comedian Sam Pang and will take place in Sydney on August 18 – This year, the event will be broadcast on Channel 7.

'To be perfectly honest, Tony will be absolutely insufferable if he wins the Gold Logie,' Rowland began. He added he was prepared to deal with Tony's inflamed ego because he felt no one was more deserving of Australia's most coveted TV award than him
