Abigail O’Sullivan with cystic fibrosis visits Unicornland

A little girl with cystic fibrosis was granted her ultimate fantasy after being flown to ‘Unicornland’ for a day of riding ponies and dressing as a fairy.

Abigail O’Sullivan is just like any other six-year-old – her dreams are full of sparkles, unicorns and fairy dust – but her chronic illness has always gotten in the way.

Her heart’s deepest desire was to spend the day as a fairy princess in ‘Unicornland’, a wish fulfilled by Australian charity Make-a-Wish foundation which gives really sick children the chance to turn their dreams into a reality.

Abigail’s wish was one 12-months in the making after the foundation and her loving parents fought hard to give her a break from intensive treatment for a trip to her fantasy holiday destination.

Her illness, cystic fibrosis, is incurable and results in debilitating symptoms such as fatigue, respiratory problems and lung infection.

Make-a-Wish flew Abigail, her older sister Isabella and their parents from the NSW Central Coast to Collingwood Children’s Farm in Victoria for a magical day put together by dedicated volunteers.

Heartwarming photos taken during the day on Friday captured Abigail smiling from ear-to-ear as she rode atop a pony decorated to look like a rainbow unicorn.

Dressed in gorgeous multi-coloured tutu dresses, Abigail and her sister had the time of their lives being treated like princesses as they completed a challenge to return Queen Unicorn’s sparkle.

Abigail’s day was a magical ride from start to finish with Jetstar even making personalised plane tickets for the two sisters and inputting ‘Unicornland’ as the destination at the ticket gate.

The two girls were picked up from their hotel in Melbourne in a beautifully decorated Kombi van before being treated to an extraordinary day at Rainbow Castle.

Abigail’s mother Kyly said her daughters had the time of their lives thanks to the generosity and help of Make-A-Wish.

‘Abigail and Isabella had such an amazing day, one they will remember forever. The effort you all put in to create this Wish for her is incredible. Thank you Make-A-Wish,’ she wrote on Facebook.

Abigail also told 9news she had ‘so much fun’ during her time at Unicornland.
