A man has plunged 300metres to his death from a cliff after falling from his rope at a popular climbing spot.
The 50-year-old was abseiling with two other friends on the eastern cliff face, known as Governor in Mount Barney, south-west of Brisbane on Saturday afternoon.
The man’s body was found at 5.50pm after police were notified of the several hours earlier.

The man’s two friends, a man and a woman in their 30s, who were also rock climbing, were stranded on the cliff.
The pair were uninjured and were rescued by an emergency helicopter after 5pm. Both have been treated by paramedics for shock.
The search for the missing 50-year-old man took close to five hours.
Emergency services underwent an extensive search, which included rescue helicopters patrolling the area, while police and paramedics searched the ground.

Throughout the search, none of the man’s friends or emergency crew knew if the man was alive or not.
At the time, police were worried and aware about the scarce sunlight as the evening crept in, making it more difficult to find the body.
Police said the reason for the man’s fall was unclear. The investigations indicate the man’s fall was about 300metres.
The eastern cliff face, known as Governor, is a popular climbing destination for sports climbers.
Police have arranged for the man’s body to removed on Sunday.
