Four injured as active shooter opens fire on Wisconsin software company office
- There was an active shooter situation inside of a commercial building that houses software companies in a suburb of Wisconsin Wednesday morning
- Four victims were taken to University Hospital as a result of the shooting
- None of the victims were fatally injured but the extent of their injuries is unclear
- The shooter was also shot and is in critical although it is unclear if they were shot by police, a civilian or if it was self inflicted
Police responded to a report of an active shooter at a commercial building in a suburb of Madison, Wisconsin that left four people injured, and the shooter shot as a result.
The four victims who were shot and were taken to University Hospital, it is unclear the extent of their injuries.
‘It appears the situation is stable now,’ Middleton City Administrator Mike Davis told the State Journal, adding ‘The bad news is that there were four injured by the suspect.’
The suspect was also injured and is in critical condition, Middleton officials said.
One woman was seen screaming as she was removed from the building. She said it was ‘a devastating loss.’
In a clip posted by NBC15, a woman could be heard screaming repeatedly off camera.
The call of shots fired inside the building at 1850 Deming Way first came in around 10:30am local time.
Andrew King, an employee at TrafficCast, 1800 Deming Way, said he saw a man carrying a handgun inside the 1850 Deming Way building.
‘I saw a dude walking with a gun inside the building,’ King said. ‘He was just walking with it, and I didn’t see any shooting.’
Police, multiple ambulances and the FBI responded, while surrounding buildings, including schools, were placed on lockdown.
Dane County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Elise Schaffer confirmed that their office is assisting Middleton Police with the response.
Middleton is about 90 miles west of Milwaukee.
