Police have swooped on a Tube station in West London amid reports of a man with a knife just hours after today’s bucket bomb terror attack.
Officers stopped a man who was carrying the large weapon just after 7pm this evening at Acton Town.
Acton Central Police, a Twitter account run by local officers, posted: ‘We are sorry that trains had to be delayed but I think most people will realise this could not be ignored.’
The man is thought to have claimed that he was carrying the bladed weapon ‘for [his] own protection’.

Another tweet from the police account included an image of the terrifying knife alongside a hashtag reading ‘no excuse’.
There were severe delays on the Piccadilly line from Acton Town towards Uxbridge, with minor delays on the rest of the line following the incident.
It comes just hours after at least 29 people were injured in this morning’s blast at Parsons Green Tube station.
Terrified passengers including a ten-year-old boy were caught up in a stampede at 8.20am as people fled fearing the ‘whole train would blow up’.
Officers are hunting for the terror suspect across London amid claims he could be armed and may have planted other explosive devices.

His crude bomb hidden in a builder’s bucket could have killed dozens but failed to properly detonate and sent a ‘wall of fire’ through the carriage.
A timer is understood to have been found on the device, suggesting the terrorist had got off at an earlier stop.
Terrified passengers were seen covered in blood with scorched hands, legs, faces and hair – others suffered crush injuries during a ‘human stampede’ as they ‘ran for their lives’.
There is no suggestion that the knife incident at Acton Town is being linked to the Parsons Green attack.
