Actor Tim Campbell calls Anthony Mundine a vile homophobe

He married pop singer Anthony Callea in November 2014.

And Tim Campbell has spoken out against Anthony Mundine, who made fiery anti-LGBTQI remarks upon quitting I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here on Thursday.

The 42-year-old referenced his pop star husband sticking it out in the South African jungle back in 2016, and called the boxer a ‘pathetic little ferret’ for leaving the show.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Anthony Mundine controversially said he believed capital punishment is the only way to deter homosexuality.

The former NRL player also said same-sex relationships should be ‘behind closed doors, how it used to be’.

He made a shock exit from I’m A Celebrity the same day the interview was published, citing his children as the reason for his early departure from the reality show.

He instantly received an enormous amount of backlash for his views, with former Home and Away star Tim taking to Twitter to admonish the Aboriginal sportsman.

‘So a pathetic little ferret like Anthony Mundine couldn’t cope in the jungle, is a quitter, yet is “The Man”?’ he wrote, referring to the boxer’s nickname.

‘I guess that makes my husband, who could face the challenge and battled it to the end, a much stronger “man” than that vile, gutless homophobe,’ he continued.

When another user told Tim his outspoken defense of his husband was only adding to an ‘us and them mentality’, the actor didn’t mince words in his response.

‘When you make public statements about capital punishment against LGBTI people, you deserve no respect and every piece of condemnation against you,’ he stated.

During his interview, Anthony called for gay actors and characters to be banned from television screens and films, as it would ‘encourage children to be homosexual’.
