Actress Jacqueline McKenzie weighs in on the #MeToo campaign

She made her debut in the 1992 critically-acclaimed film, Romper Stomper.

And Jacqueline McKenzie has reflected on co-star Russell Crowe’s ill-timed quip at December’s AACTA Awards ceremony regarding their infamous ‘sodomy scene’.

Untimely: Jacqueline McKenzie has reflected on co-star Russell Crowe’s ill-timed quip at December’s AACTA Awards ceremony regarding their infamous ‘sodomy scene’

‘The whole debacle with Russell at the AACTAs was a shame,’ she shared.

‘There was a tremendous team around me when those scenes were shot, so one can’t just make general statements about there not being support,’ she added.

During last year’s AACTAs, Russell informed the shocked audience how he and Jacqueline had awkwardly filmed their violent and explicit sex scene.

'There was a tremendous team around me when those scenes were shot, so one can't just make general statements about there not being support,' she added

‘I was sodomising Jacqui McKenzie on the set of Romper Stomper. I didn’t actually intend to do that – I was trying to keep my bits away from her bits,’ he told the crowd.

Jacqueline quickly clarified any misconceptions from the actor’s vivid account the following day via her Facebook page.

‘The very important conversation of sexual harassment in the workplace bears no relevance to this. There were no blurry lines that awkward day’s filming,’ she wrote.

The veteran actress told Stellar she has, however, been placed in work situations where she did feel danger from a potential predator.

She said bullying and violence were factors associated with sexual harassment, and rampant drug use and abuse within the film industry that ‘no-one calls’.

‘I have actually been scared for my safety,’ she described of people she had worked with ‘who are off their dial or coming off a massive coke bender and are aggressive’.
