Adam Rickitt has celebrated a major relationship milestone with his wife Katy.

The Coronation Street star, 46, met correspondent Katy during an interview in 2011.

What was supposed to be a 30-minute chat at an animal rescue centre turned into a five and a half hour interview as they got on so well.

Fast forward to the present day, and the couple celebrated 13 years since the day they met earlier this week.

Katy took to Instagram to pay tribute to her husband Adam with a series of throwback snaps, with the pair looking unrecognisable.

The first throwback snap she shared was of herself and Adam all dressed up as they beamed at the camera in front of a Christmas tree.

She also posted another sweet throwback of the pair huddled in close for a picture as she kissed her lover’s cheek.

And in three more snaps that followed, the pair were looking happier than ever.

Katy wrote out a heartfelt message in the caption that said: ‘It may seem like we celebrate every milestone but this is the one that means the most to us. 13 years ago I went to interview a man about a dog… well actually @adamrickitt about a RSPCA home for dogs!

‘A one hour interview lasted a day, a first lunch date lasted beyond dinner and then we made the vows to last a lifetime! We just worked out it’s a third of my life… that doesn’t seem enough I can barely remember anything beforehand.

‘I love this man with all my heart and soul. Happy ‘gotcha’ day xx.’

Adam and Katy tied the knot in a winter wonderland wedding in December 2014.

Although the couple are happily married, their romance hasn’t been without heartache.

Due to an autoimmune disorder, which he was diagnosed with when he was just 22, Adam is unable to have children.

The actor suffers from a type of arthritis called Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) which can affect the spin and cause other areas of the body to become inflamed.

Opening up about his infertility on Loose Women, Adam said: ‘I always thought I was going to have fertility problems. I never pictured myself with children. I could never explain to you why.

‘Katy comes from North Yorkshire and a big family orientated family, so I did say to her very early on, ‘I’m not sure what my fertility is going to be like.’

However, Katy ‘didn’t bat an eyelid’ at the thought of Adam not being able to have kids as she is so in love with him.

Explaining her opinion on the subject, she said: ‘I married Adam and anything that came after that is a bonus… I love him and what happens thereafter, happens thereafter.’

The couple, who now live in Cheshire, decided not to go down the route of IVF and live a happy life together with their four pet dogs.

Adam found fame when he was cast as Gail Platt’s (Helen Worth) son on Coronation Street in 1997, playing the role for two years.
