Adelaide man charged over ear biting after crash

A good Samaritan has had chunks of both his ears bitten off after going to the aid of a car crash victim.

The 41-year-old was also punched several times as he went to check on the 35-year-old driver whose car had ploughed through a fence at Murray Bridge, east of Adelaide, on Thursday.

Police allege the man was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and doing burnouts prior to the crash.

When officers arrived, he also armed himself with a rock and allegedly kicked a police officer before being subdued with capsicum spray.

The man was charged with numerous offences including assault causing serious harm and was expected to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on Friday.

The good Samaritan was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital for emergency plastic surgery.
