A 51-year-old man will face court charged with murder and attempted murder after a siege in suburban Adelaide following a woman’s death.

Another woman, 22, was seriously injured in the alleged shooting incident after a standoff with police in Campbelltown on Saturday.

Police believe the women are related to the man.

The neighbourhood was locked down shortly after 1.30pm as heavily armed tactical officers were deployed to contain the incident.

Police responded to reports of gunshots and two women seen collapsed on the driveway of a home.

The injured woman is in a stable condition in the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

After lengthy negotiations, the man was arrested and he later charged with murder and attempted murder.

There was no application for bail and he will face the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

‘When patrols arrived, they found a woman deceased at the scene and another 22-year-old woman with serious injuries,’ South Australia Police said in a statement.

‘The injured woman was safely extracted and rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where she remains in stable condition.

‘Patrols set up cordons around the home and surrounding streets while STAR Group officers responded to reports of an armed man who remained inside the home.
