A boy in Year 5 has threatened to slit the throat of an 11-year-old student in the yard of an Adelaide primary school.
The boy has been suspended from the inner suburban school after he brandished a pocket knife during morning recess on Wednesday.
He intimidated his fellow student with the weapon following weeks of schoolyard arguing between two groups of boys, The Advertiser reported.

During one confrontation, the boy said he’d bring a knife to school before following through with the threat, according to sources.
He then pushed over the 11-year-old’s bicycle and pulled out a pocket knife, threatening to slash his throat.
Police were then called to the school about 2pm after receiving a report that a student threatened another with a knife.
The school issued a letter to parents explaining disciplinary action was being taken against the boy, and the incident was being treated with ‘utmost seriousness’.

‘Police have been called in response and the facts relating to the incident are being established,’ the school’s principal wrote.
‘Please refrain from speculating about the nature of the incident while the investigation takes place.’
The principal said the parents of those involved had been notified and support was being made available to students.
A spokesperson from the South Australian Education Department said in a statement: ‘Teachers took action immediately on becoming aware of the knife to confiscate it and contacted the student’s parents to take the child home.’
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
