Adele announces a new string of live shows: Fans of the music megastar go wild as she confirms she will perform in Europe this summer for the first time since 2016

Adele has confirmed she will be performing summer shows in Munich, Germany in August, marking her first gigs in mainland Europe since 2016.

The global superstar, who is currently performing weekly in a Las Vegas residency, will take to the stage in Europe on the 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th of August 2024.

Based at Munich Messe, Adele will perform in an open-air environment that has been exclusively created for the special shows.

The bespoke arena will feature a combination of seated grandstands and standing areas with capacity for 80,000 people per night.

Announcing the news on Instagram on Wednesday, Adele told her fans: ‘So a few months ago I got a call about a summer run of shows. I’ve been content as anything with my shows in London’s Hyde Park and my residency in Vegas, so I hadn’t had any other plans.’

‘However, I was too curious to not follow up and indulge in this idea – a one off, bespoke pop-up stadium designed around whatever show I want to put on? Ohh!? Pretty much slap bang in the middle of Europe? In Munich?’

‘That’s a bit random, but still fabulous! Right after the Euros? Come on England! With the Olympics next door? Go on Simone! And some of my favourite artists playing shows too? Why…YES!!’

‘I haven’t played in Europe since 2016! I couldn’t think of a more wonderful way to spend my summer and end this beautiful phase of my life and career with shows closer to home during such an exciting summer. Guten Tag babes x.’

Fans went wild at the announcement, with many commenting on Instagram that they were planning European road trips to see their idol.

Adele is currently performing the last leg of her highly acclaimed Las Vegas residency Weekends With Adele, which runs through mid-June.

Adele will have performed an incredible 50 Weekends With Adele dates (100 shows in total) by the end of it’s run. She also thrilled her UK audience at her sold out London Hyde Park shows in 2022.

The star sent her fans wild on Tuesday as she teased she would be revealing some exciting news in 24 hours.

The singer, 35, cut a glamorous figure in a black and video posted to her socials alongside the music to her single Oh My God.

Eagle-eyed followers spotted a date hidden amongst the montage of shots: ’31. 01. 2024′.

Fans took to the comment section to theorise what Adele’s mystery announcement could be – with guesses ranging from new music to the songstress launching a make-up range.

They wrote: ‘Is this a tease for her beauty brand?’ ‘What are you teasing Adele?’

‘What are you up to queen?’, ‘It’s your world and we’re just living in it’  and ‘OMG daydreamers screaming in 3-2-1’.

Another follower joked: ‘Just take my credit card now for whatever this means.’

In the photos Adele rocked her signature black winged eyeliner, Hollywood waves and a glossy lipstick.

MailOnline has contacted Adele’s representatives for comment.

Last week, the singer confirmed she plans to embark on another world tour upon the release of her next album but admitted that it wouldn’t be anytime soon.

Her Weekends With Adele residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is set to come to an end in June 2024, freeing up her schedule.

During her show on Saturday, Adele said she would want to take her next album on tour, but also confessed she didn’t think she would be writing the new record for a while.

Her last album was 30, released in 2021 to huge commercial and critical success, winning British Album of the Year at the 2022 Brit Awards and becoming the best-selling album of the year.

Speaking about the next one, Adele, who last year confirmed she had married Rich Paul, admitted: ‘I just don’t think I’m going to write an album for quite some time.’

However, she then promised the audience: ‘But next time I do, I’ll come to wherever it is you live.’

It comes after fans got their hopes up that Adele would go back on tour, after she shared an emotional post on Instagram about her final shows in Vegas.

Adele reflected on how she previously ‘fell out of love’ with performing and how the gigs have since ‘changed [her] life’.

‘It’s just made me realize how much I really enjoy being on stage, that I’m bloody good at it and that it is 100% where I belong!’ Adele wrote.

She signed off her post with the words: ‘So let’s go one last time before I turn into a showgirl forever! Love you and I’ll see you on the other side soon x’.

Ticket registration for Adele’s Munich gigs is open now at Adele.com and closes on Monday, 5th of February at 6pm CET.
