Who let the dogs out? A new canine-only airline called BARK Air is not only getting them out – but away.
The dog-only airline made it’s maiden flight from New York to Los Angeles on Thursday, May 23.
According to its CEO Matt Meeker, the new airline will transport dogs of all sizes and their people ‘in comfort and in style,’ aiming for stress-free flights for both owners and pets.
‘We cater everything to the dog, trying to lower their anxiety and their stress,’ he explained in a press preview.
‘It’s a first-class experience for the dog, a business-class experience for people.’

BARK, the pet company founded in 2011, announced the launch of the dog-centered plane experience in April as a way ‘to revolutionize flying for dogs.’
The furry passengers fly better than most humans, with amenities on board including a lounge filled with treats and toys, speedy check-ins, and even an on-board spa for pups.
The luxury aircraft can accommodate up to 14 people, however the airlines doesn’t want to sell more than 10 tickets to make room for 10 dogs.
At the moment, BARK Air offers routes between metro areas in New York City from White Plains Airport to Los Angeles’s Van Nuys Airport.
Internationally they fly to London’s Biggin Hill Airport.
The flight will set a pet and their human companion back $8,000 for a one-way international flight and $6,000 for a domestic trip.
Children are not allowed to fly BARK Air and all human passengers must be at least 18 years old.
However Meeker said the figures could change as the flights gained popularity.

‘I hope that we can create an experience that reaches every family that wants to travel with their entire family like they do with their children,’ he explained.
‘And that means serving as many routes as we can, making the costs more affordable, more attainable for every family or most families.’
The airline is so far popular, with BARK Air receiving more than 15,000 requests for new destinations.
They’re now considering adding flights to Paris, Milan, Chicago, Seattle, and seasonal destinations in Florida and Arizona.
‘We’ve got a long way to go, but this is step one,’ the CEO pointed out.
He added: ‘Just to make it that everyone can travel with their entire family and not leave one behind.’
