AEW removes former World Champion MJF from the roster page on their official website after his contract expired… with ROH World Tag-Team Champion linked with WWE move

  • Sources suggest MJF has reportedly ‘re-signed’ with the AEW in a deal until 2027

AEW have removed former World Champion MJF from the roster page on their official website.

The ROH World Tag-Team Champion – whose name is Maxwell Jacob Friedman – had previously announced that that his contract with the organisation would expire on January 1st.

Despite reports that MJF had ‘quietly re-signed’ with the AEW in a deal until 2027, it appears that’s not the case after the 27-year-old disappeared from the roster page.

In August, MJF retained his AEW World Championship against his tag team partner, Adam Cole, in a battle of best friends at Wembley in front of over 81,000 people.

However, on Saturday, MJF lost to Samoa Joe at the Worlds End pay-per-view, which saw 406 day reign as AEW Champion come to an end.

And, amid a number of injuries for the American, AEW has now removed his profile from the roster page on their website.

It’s unclear whether he’ll return to the organisation or sign elsewhere, with no confirmed plans on his future moves.

MJF had been linked with a potential move to the WWE however, last month, sources refuted that claim.

According to the Haus Of Wrestling, MJF has supposedly had ‘zero talks’ with the WWE.

Sources have claimed that the idea MJF is entering free agency imminently is a ‘false narrative’ and it is ‘a completely in his head storyline’.

One person also added: ‘1000%. I was told a while ago he is under a long-term deal, which is why they stopped pushing the 2024 stuff.’
