Nathan Murphy has reportedly suffered another setback with the Collingwood star set to miss two months of action after picking up an ankle injury on Sunday.
Murphy, 22, hobbled off during the third quarter of the Pies’ AAMI Community Series clash with the Giants in Sydney after landing awkwardly during an aerial contest in the defensive 50.
According to AFL.com.au, scans suggest Murphy will miss at least two months of action and will undergo surgery on the injury this week.

Murphy, a No 39 draft pick in 2017, has endured a torrid run of fortune since making his Pies debut in late 2018. A string of injuries kept him sidelined until last year, when he made 15 appearances for the club. In total, he has played 17 games for the Pies.
With the 22-year-old’s contract expiring at the end of the season, 2022 was earmarked as imperative for Murphy to live up to the hype that saw Shane Warne commend Collingwood president Eddie Maguire for landing the youngster in 2017.
The versatile gun was in contention to start his side’s season opener against St Kilda, with new Collingwood coach Craig McRae facing an injury crisis at the back heading into the new campaign.
Jordan Roughead is out with a shoulder knock, Charlie Dean has a foot issue while Brayden Maynard copped a two-game suspension for striking Giants opponent Daniel Lloyd.
McRae will be boosted by the expected returns of vice skipper Jeremy Howe and Isaac Quaynor, while Taylor Adams and Jordan de Goey are in line to feature in next Friday’s clash.
