AFL star Harry Himmelberg and Taylia Sarris marry in discreet ceremony following two heartbreaking miscarriages

AFL star Harry Himmelberg has tied the knot with his partner, Taylia Sarris.

The couple wed in a discreet ceremony at a wedding registry in Melbourne.

The GWS Giants defender, 28, who is expecting his first child with Sarris in December, made their partnership official on Saturday.

Former teammate and current Tigers midfielder Tim Taranto and his partner Tash Hoole served as witnesses at the wedding.

Himmelberg looked sharp in beige pants and a crisp white t-shirt while his fashion designer wife wore a white corset and skirt for the occasion.

The newlyweds continued their celebration at the upscale restaurant Entrecôte in Prahran.

Himmelberg and Sarris got engaged last year and are planning a proper wedding celebration with family, friends, and their baby daughter in 2025.

The pair had planned to begin their parenthood journey shortly after getting engaged in Paris last year, however Sarris suffered two miscarriages, including one just before her third pregnancy.

Taylia, who is a content creator and fashion stylist, told the Herald Sun she is anxious ahead of the birth of her daughter.

‘It is pretty scary, the whole process, until she’s born and we get to hold her I don’t think that anxiety will go away because you never know what can happen,’ she said.

Harry told the publication that ‘stigma’ around miscarriage is still very prominent and being told by doctors it’s quite common ‘eased their minds’ throughout the heartbreaking process.

‘That was hard because you think this isn’t normal or you panic. There are people much worse off than us and to fall pregnant is a blessing,’ he said.

Up to one in five women will have a miscarriage before 20 weeks, according to the Australian Royal Women’s Hospital. Although the actual number is likely to be higher, inclusive of women who miscarry without knowing that they are pregnant.

Taylia and Harry announced her pregnancy on Instagram three months ago, sharing a heartfelt video of a gender reveal involving their two dogs eating a specially made cake to reveal pink frosting inside.

The footy star’s face broke out into a wide grin as he learned he’d soon be the father of a baby girl and he leaned in to give Taylia a cuddle and a kiss on their couch at home.

The brunette beauty was overcome with emotion and sobbed as she collapsed into his arms with relief and joy.

‘Two becomes three,’ she captioned the video, which also featured a snapshot of an ultrasound.

It comes one year after Harry got down on one knee during a rainy night in Paris to pop the question against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower.
