AFL star Jeremy Finlayson’s terminally ill wife Kellie shares a heartbreaking update on her cancer battle – as she prepares to makes a big decision

Kellie Finlayson has shared a heartbreaking update on her cancer battle.

The social media influencer who is married AFL star Jeremy Finlayson, visited her oncologist on Tuesday and was told that her cancer is growing again.

Kellie, 28, has battled bowel and lung cancer after she was diagnosed in November 2021 following the birth of the couple’s child, Sophia.

She underwent several surgeries and chemotherapy after she discovered the news her initial stage 3 diagnosis had been changed to stage 4.

In January this year, Kellie started another six-month round of chemotherapy, but her husband indicated his wife had stopped her chemotherapy and radiation treatments and had now put her trust in alternative medicine.

On Tuesday, Finlayson confirmed she would most likely have to undergo another round of chemo after her surgeon told her they have to act fast.

‘Unfortunately with cancer, especially relapsed cancer, it grows really fast so once we see not even quite a millimetere of growth in a scan over a couple of months, we know that means it’s growing and that means that we have to act on it,’ she said in a video she posted on TikTok.

‘So normally I walk out of a meeting with my oncologist and he tells me that we’re happy to watch and wait. Not the case today.

‘I am off to see a surgeon next week and a radiotherapist also just to get all of my options before potentially starting chemotherapy again.

‘I guess I’m one of the lucky ones because we know chemotherapy works really well for me, but any chemotherapy is f***ed and not what I want to be doing.’

Before her oncologist appointment, Kellie admitted she was nervous about her prognosis.

‘My scans were good, not stable anymore, but OK considering. Trying to find out the next steps,’ she said.

‘I haven’t shared anything on this in a really long time, but I feel like I’m gonna start sharing more again because I know how beneficial it can be to those that are going through their own journey as much as I hate that word.’

The video continued, showing Kellie in the doctor’s waiting room before walking out and saying ‘f**k my life’ to the camera.

Kellie has previously said that both chemotherapy and alternative therapies have worked to slow the spread of her cancer, which ‘100 per cent’ robbed her of her first year of motherhood with Sophia.

‘I’ve gone into early menopause. Whether I can come back from that, I don’t know,’ she said in March last year.

‘That was honestly my biggest struggle, knowing that I may not give Sophia any siblings, which is so hard. We had always planned to have a big family.

‘It’s just something that I always wanted. It was the hardest pill to swallow out of all the pills I’ve swallowed in the last 18 months.’

Port Adelaide star Finlayson said the turmoil of the last few years taken its toll and impacted his football career.

‘Just looking at how strong Kellie is and just trying to be her rock and just trying to put a smile on her face out on the football ground for her and Soph.’

Kellie has remained a beacon of positivity throughout her treatment.

She is determined to enjoy however much life she has left and hopes to see as many of her daughter Sophia’s milestones as possible.

‘As long as [the cancer] is being maintained, I feel like I’ve got the potential to have quite a long life. I could see Sophia’s 21st birthday!’ she told News Corp.

‘I hope I see her first day of school. That’s still years away, but it’s longer than I anticipated when I first heard the diagnosis.’
