‘Let’s just start by saying we’re sorry to you all and you’ve been heard loud and clear,’ the post read.
One furious artist even left a red graffiti note over the Lawrence painting saying ‘it really is a jungle sometimes … no respect’.
‘We managed to get in touch with the original designer/artist and he is a ripping bloke,’ Apparition Media wrote.
The company said they discussed with the original artist about the meaning of his jungle mural, which showed exotic animals on a city landscape, sharing they both had common grounds of ‘losing someone to suicide’.
Planning to collaborate on a new mural, the original artist told Apparition Media he wanted to share the story his brother in the new artwork.
‘We have expressed our regret for painting over it and apologised for our ignorance,’ the company said.

In the post, Apparition Media said they were not a ‘faceless corporate entity’ and restore the original mural, covering all costs.
‘We are going to use this opportunity to raise money for a local charity of the artist’s choice to raise awareness around youth suicide,’ they said.
‘We apologise to the Newtown community for painting over this much loved mural, hopefully something good will come out of all of this.’
