‘Agitated’ man is shot by police outside a Melbourne KFC after a disturbance at the fast-food restaurant

  • Police have shot a man during a disturbance at a KFC in south east Melbourne
  • The man charged at officers with an ‘edged weapon’ at the Narre Warren KFC
  • He was shot in the lower body and was taken to hospital without serious injuries

A man has been shot after he charged at police outside a KFC in south east Melbourne.

Police attended the KFC on Lauderdale Road, Narre Warren at about 2.45pm on Monday afternoon after they were called to a disturbance.  

Police said an ‘agitated’ man charged at officers with an ‘edged weapon’.

‘Officers were confronted with an agitated man wielding an edged weapon who charged at them,’ Victoria Police said in a statement. 

Police then shot the man in the lower body in an attempt to apprehend the ‘agitated’ man who charged at the officers.

The man was taken to hospital non-life threatening injuries. 

Victoria Police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
