Airport chaos as Sydney terminals are hit with massive delays due to a security outage – leaving thousands of frustrated passengers stranded

Thousands of passengers have been stranded at Sydney Airport as flights are delayed due to a security outage.

Passport control machines reportedly stopped working, resulting in massive queues at the airport’s international terminal on Monday morning.

Systems at the airport’s border control were down, meaning passengers had to be processed manually, news.com.au reported.

One passenger tweeted: ‘Holy cow the line to go to security/boarding at Sydney airport go all the way around the terminal it’s so crazy.’

‘I never saw that before.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted the Australian Border Force and Sydney Airport for comment.

The chaos comes after travellers experienced massive delays over the weekend due to extreme weather.

‘I’m in this same line and this is absolutely crazy! I’ve never seen a line like this in my life!’ another tweeted.

One added: ‘Never seen anything like this before at Sydney Airport. Delays delays delays.’
