- Just as Dele Alli was about to control the ball, Magallan slipped behind him
The Ajax players woke up on Thursday morning wishing Wednesday night never happened.
And probably none more so than Lisandro Magallan, who came on as a substitute in the 90th minute.
Ajax were leading the tie 3-2 on aggregate as the clock struck the 96th minute.

Magallan was not able to close Alli down, allowing the midfielder to slide the ball through
Lucas Moura was then able to latch on to Alli’s throughball and net the 96th-minute winner
When the long ball was floated towards the penalty area by Moussa Sissoko, Fernando Llorente managed to flick the ball into Dele Alli’s direction.
Just as Alli was about to control the ball, Magallan slipped behind him and could not close the Tottenham midfielder down quickly enough.
As a result, the Spurs man was able to play the pass to Lucas Moura who went on to complete his hat-trick and knock the Eredivisie side out of the competition on the away goals rule.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side lost the first leg 1-0 before finding themselves 2-0 down at half-time at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Then Moura went on to score a hat-trick in the second half as the north London club won the match 3-2 on the night.
