In an interview with Saudi-owned Al Arabiya on Sunday, Sajet – who is in detention in Iraq – said that ISIS leaders, including himself, would bury dollars, gold, and silver in the desert.

He claimed that $25 million was lost in al-Anbar desert and was later discovered by shepherds.

He described one of Baghdadi’s hideouts, saying it was an underground bunker filled with religious texts.

‘He was in an 8-meter-long underground tunnel with a width of 5 to 6 meters. It had a library, religious books and the Quran and things of sort,’ Sajet said.

‘It had lights and various things so the hiding situation was good.’

It is not clear if this was part of the same compound where Baghdadi was found on Saturday.

‘We didn’t expect this to happen. Even he didn’t expect to be killed due to his security measures,’ Sajet said.

An Iraqi government official told CNN that Sajet had also given up information about a courier working for Baghdadi.

The information Saget provided helped lead to Baghdadi’s capture on Saturday night in Syria when U.S. forces stormed his compound, according to the official.

Baghdadi blew himself up after being cornered by U.S forces in a dead-end underground tunnel in his Syrian compound.

The Iraqi official said they started tracking the courier and his wife after Saget gave up the details while in custody.

The courier was killed in a subsequent raid but his wife led Iraqi authorities to a different location where they were able to find further information that directed them towards Baghdadi.

Iraqi officials then tipped off the Americans, according to the source.  Sajet added: ‘His security was good. They were tending and herding sheep , he was there hiding underground and there was a tent above him.

‘He wanted to change his location and didn’t know how to , they were always discussing this.’

In a national address, Trump described the nighttime airborne raid in Syria’s northwestern Idlib province, with American special operations forces flying over heavily militarized territory controlled by multiple nations and forces. No U.S. troops were killed in the operation, Trump said.

The death of al-Baghdadi was a milestone in the fight against IS, which brutalized swaths of Syria and Iraq and sought to direct a global campaign from a self-declared “caliphate.”

A years-long campaign by American and allied forces led to the recapture of the group’s territorial holding, but its violent ideology has continued to inspire attacks.

As U.S. troops bore down on al-Baghdadi, he fled into a “dead-end” tunnel with three of his children, Trump said, and detonated a suicide vest, killing himself and the children.

“He was a sick and depraved man, and now he’s gone,” Trump said. “He died like a dog, he died like a coward.”

Al-Baghdadi’s identity was confirmed by a DNA test conducted onsite, Trump said.
