Trump attended the first half of Monday night’s game in Atlanta before flying back to Washington, DC, on Monday night.

Ahead of the game, both football teams were kept in their locker rooms as Trump walked on to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for the Star Spangled Banner.

For the last several months, Trump has attacked NFL players who have decided to kneel during the national anthem in protest of racial inequality.

Following the national anthem, Alabama’s football team was filmed walking through the tunnel to the field in preparation for the game.

Footage of the walk was uploaded to Twitter by Sporting News accusing Scarbrough, No 9, of yelling ‘F*** Trump’.

Scarbrough has denied yelling a comment about Trump and said the statement was directed at the team he was playing.

He wrote on Twitter: ‘If y’all really listen I said Georgia smh about y’all people in this world.’

Social media users called Scarbrough ‘pathetic’, an ’embarrassment’ and ‘disgusting’ after watching the footage. Some even called him a ‘thug’.

‘You embarrassed your school, yourself and this country,’ one Twitter user wrote. ‘Simply pathetic.’

Others made fun of the 13-0 score against Alabama going in to halftime – blaming it on Scarbrough.

Some on social media defended Scarbrough, saying that he had the right to say whatever he wanted.

‘There are a lot of responses that support his right to say what he wants,’ one Twitter user said. ‘Trump’s been attacking players who kneel all season.

‘He didn’t do it on the field either. Getting this kid attacked isn’t going to help anyone.’

The people attacking Scarbrough were called ‘racist’ for attacking the football player by those who were defending him.

Meanwhile, Trump’s appearance at the game received mixed reviews from people in Atalanta and on social media.

As he arrived at Monday’s game, he was met with jeers from protesters outside of the stadium.

When Trump was introduced ahead of the national anthem, he faced both cheers and boos from football fans.

While some claim to have heard a cacophony of boos with intermittent cheers upon the President’s arrival, Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr, disagreed on twitter.

‘Sounds like some serious cheering to me,’ he wrote.
